Summer 2019 I interned at Thomson Reuters as a software engineer. I got to be part of a global scrum team and helped develop an internal Team Foundation Server/Azure cloud deployment pipeline management application. It had a RESTful API backend in ASP.NET Core and an Angular and NgRx frontend. I worked more directly with the backend, creating an API in C# that could perform parallel deployments with robust error handling. My teammate and I basically took a 6-hour long, manual deployment process and shortened it to just 3 clicks!
As part of the UCI Informatics and Computer Science Honors program, I conducted undergraduate research on “Smart Multimedia Technology for Understanding and Guiding Human Behavior”. We explored how different technologies and digital assistants could affect people’s emotional health, physical health, and mental health. We developed a simple web-based game and controller that encouraged mental and physical stimulation, targeted at elderly adults.
Also while at UCI, I was a supervisor at the UCI eSports arena. I was responsible for running the 80-computer facility — first of its kind at a major public university. I got to interact with the ever growing gaming community daily. Gathering information on what gamers like in the games they play.
Of course, I don’t just want to work with video games, I also love playing them too. Die hard Skyrim, Dishonored, Gravity Rush, Red Dead Redemption, and Genshin Impact fan here. But enough about playing and making games.
